Privacy Policy

The short version

Your room photos are stored and displayed in our public gallery. We blur faces automatically and filter for inappropriate content, but the photos themselves are public. No account is required, and we don't track you across the web.

Photos you upload

When you upload a photo:

• It's sent to our AI service for roasting and product recommendations
• A thumbnail version is stored on our servers
• The photo and roast are added to our public gallery
• Other users can view, share, and enjoy your roast

We process photos to:

• Automatically blur detected faces for privacy
• Filter out explicit or inappropriate content
• Compress and optimize for web display

What NOT to upload

Do not upload photos containing:

• Identifiable people (even with face blurring, avoid this)
• Personal documents, mail, or sensitive information visible
• Rooms belonging to others without their permission
• Explicit, illegal, or inappropriate content
• Photos of children's rooms

Requesting removal

If you uploaded a photo and want it removed from the gallery, email us at hello@roomroaster.com with details about the photo (approximate upload time, room description, etc.) and we'll remove it within 48 hours.

Data we collect

• Uploaded room photos (stored for gallery display)
• Generated roasts and product recommendations
• Basic analytics (page views, not tied to individuals)
• Email address (only if you subscribe to updates)
• A hashed version of your IP (for rate limiting and abuse prevention)

Data we don't collect

• Your name or identity (no accounts required)
• Your exact location
• Cookies for cross-site tracking
• Purchase information from affiliate links

Third-party services

We use the following third-party services:

• OpenAI — For AI analysis and roast generation. Your photo is sent to OpenAI for processing. See OpenAI's privacy policy.
• Analytics — We use privacy-respecting analytics to understand usage patterns (no personal tracking).

Shopping links

Product recommendation links go to third-party retailers (Amazon, Google Shopping, Walmart). These are affiliate links. We don't track your purchases or receive any personal information about what you buy — we only know if a purchase was made through our link.

Data retention

Gallery photos and roasts are retained indefinitely unless you request removal. Email subscriptions are retained until you unsubscribe. Analytics data is aggregated and anonymized.

Your rights

You have the right to:

• Request removal of your uploaded photos
• Unsubscribe from email updates at any time
• Request information about data we hold (email us)
